Every Saturday I wait for a bus to take me to the local train station where I board a train and (40 minutes later) meet my boyfriend in the city. Sounds simple right? NOT!
What makes my trip so agonising is the little wannabe trio of boys (ranging from 12-16) in their nike tracksuits and too tight tank tops listening to the latest Ministry of Sound music on their phones at FULL BLAST as they do this shuffling thing with their feet with their hair gelled up so high that passer-bys are thinking that they're imperonating Super Sayons from the cartoon Dragon Ball Z. Mean while, these boys begin to do this as SOON as I park myself on a bus seat behind me. What do they think? I'm going to turn around and scream "OH LITTLE TEENIE BOPPERS! YOU'VE GOT ME WITH YOUR HARD STYLE MUSIC AND YOUR CRAPPY LITTLE DANCING! TAKE ME NOW!" Puh-lease !!! As the bus pulls up I immidiatly get on the bus first and sit somewhere in the middle of the almost empty bus. The three teenie boppers that get on the bus as I sit down actually shuffle onto the bus with their music still BLAIRING! They sit at the very back of the bus and don't speak to one another. As the bus stops at the station, I get off. So do the morons behind me. They are greeted by three girls. ALL wearing over sized bras to make their surf board, under developed chests appear bigger. ALL with a ton of the local $2 stores make-up on their faces. ALL with over hair sprayed and over teased hair. ALL with a cigarette in their hands. I go to board my train thinking how stupid could 12 year olds get...and then I was answered. A group of older teens walk off the train before I go to board it. All listening to the same music. The boys swear repeating the C word over and over again talking about the latest drug fixation and who they were going to bash and who just got out of Juvi. The girls get off the train in ass high dresses, smoking and screamin "I'm gunna bash that whore!" I got on the train and it was quite sad when I came to realise that those trio of young boys and girls were the group of older girls and boys in the future. Who would ever want to grow up to be like that? To get addicted to nicotteen at such a young age? To have a fowl mouth like that? To plan on hurting someone? To talk about the experiance of drug use? Who did they think they were? The kids that had a tough life so they had to turn out like that to survive on the streets? Um...NO! I know people like this who live in incredible houses, have incredible families and screw it all up all for the social class! And before we blame it on celebrities and how they influence the children of today through the media...could it be something else? Could it be the Bratz dolls with their over made up faces and their over developed bodies that girls used to play with when they were young? Could it be the tunes of rappers preaching about drugs, referring to women as "bitches"and stringing the name of God all into one sentence? I can't think of other reasons why children at such a young age grow up to be so influenced to try and run a tough act. And since being so bad is so unbelievably cool to "teenie boppers", they will go to Juvenile Hall for SOMETHING. They will have it on their record. They will come out feeling proud, showing their friends how tough they are, making up lies about how they were in a gang to survive in the place. They will apply for a job because they're going to need money for their new addidas track suits that everyone decided was cool when they were locked up. They will not get a job offer back because no one wants an ex-Juvi at their company...and they will forever be the person on the streets that thought having a tough life was cool until it actually happened. Why so sad teenie bopper? Wasn't this what you wanted?
